Is this a Republican blog?/GBCW

This is not the most worthwhile diary that I have written but I think it needs to be said. MyDD looks like no other leftist blog: roughly 70% of the diaries are attacks on Democratic presidential candidates. Now I'm asking those who writes these hit pieces: what is your purpose? To weaken the Democratic party? I am not suggesting that we should stop debating which candidate is the best, but since the differences between the Democrats are still very minor compared to the differences between the Dems and the Repubs, it would seem appropriate with an attack geared at the Republican candidates every once in a while. Do you realise that Giuliani is a closet fascist who believes that "freedom is authority"? Do you realise that Mitt Romney is on record saying that he would double the size of Gitmo? These people are dangerous and will destroy America if we let them. Hillary, Obama and Edwards won't.

A certain Hillary supporter (guess who?) has even said that he/she would vote for Giuliani over Obama. It makes you wonder. Myself I would never dream of voting for any Repug over any Democrat in 2008.

I am sick of the attacks on Democratic candidates on this blog (not by the front posters so much as by the various partisan community members). I have decided to leave this community as of today, I will read the front page diaries but the rest is frankly crap which seems more appropriate on FreeRepublic.com than on Mydd. But this diary is not about me, I am insignificant, it's about what has happened to this place when partisan trolls have infected it. It's disgusting and frustrating to watch.

Another stupid self-serving name-calling piece.

Yeah, we all know how holly Obama and his supporters are...

Hillary: We will finally have a president who doesn't mind pulling over and asking for directions. Am I right, ladies?

Care to explain (3.00 / 1)

why you would rather vote for Giuliani than Obama?

This has nothing to do with my support of Obama. I would be perfectly happy with Hillary as a nominee, except that I am scared that she will turn out Republicans in droves.

The hit pieces against Hillary - how she is "just like Bush" - are delusional and hurts the Democratic party. Hillary is light years better than any Republican candidate.

areyouready said she would vote for... (none / 0)

giuliani if obama is the democratic nominee.  otoh, i have said that i can't vote for hillary, because i think that passing the presidency back and forth between two families is incredibly dangerous for our democracy and i've witnessed the kind of damage that dynastic politics has in undermining the people's confidence in their government in illinois.  so that would be one obama supporter who won't be supporting hillary (who i believe will be the nominee)...

And you were the one who WROTE that, so it does put suspicion about you in play.  No matter how we may argue, no democrat is voting for a republican, period.

Re: Is this a Republican blog?/GBCW (none / 0)

Look maybe I can understand the point you are trying to make , but if anyone is suppossed to flee the site it should be Clinton supporters and I have heard numerous people including obama supporters say they will vote for ron paul , ralph nader , third party or not vote at all if Clintton wins i don't think you complained then . You will not hear many clinton supporters say they won't vote for Obama in the general .

However I understand your sentiment.

You're right (3.00 / 1)

I cannot understand those saying that they would rather vote for Nader than Hillary. My sig line says it all - I have absolutely no time for purists. I am a die hard pragmatist. What is important is pushing America as far towards the progressive pole as is possible. Voting Green is tantamount to helping the right wing gain power.

Fact is the tone of this website has declined ever since it was invaded by Hillary supporters who never bothered to come here before. Hillary is certainly being unfairly treated here but it does not excuse her supporters from hijacking threads with anti-Obama and anti-Edwards crap.

I have even seen Hillary supporters claiming that they have no interest whatsoever in participating in the community except for propagating for Hillary and against Obama/Edwards. Those supporters should be banned, I think.

Re: You're right (none / 0)

It sounds like you have a personal issue with a particular poster. So you have no problem with all the Hillary hit pieces proved extensively by other posters? I would be willing to calm my rhetoric should others calm theirs but being called a bot or other nonsense by some of these folks is the root of much of this.

When the candidates take attacks off the table I will follow suit. I am a Democrat and a Hillary supporter. Should she not win the nomination I will support whoever does. Like I said, I am a Democrat. I can't speak for the comments of anyone else.

Nah, it's just been full of frackin' amateurs of late.

You need to remember that candidates and campaigns do not control, nor are they responsible for, their amateur fans.

Says the hillary hater? (none / 0)

Two out of your seven diaries are attacks on Clinton (Why electability matters (with poll) and We have the power to stop Hillary), three were Obama promos, one was on Global Warming and now GBCW. I think this is more "my guy is losing so I'm taking my marbles and going home" than "I can't stand the partisan trolls so GBCW".

Frankly I won't miss you or third party nancygeorge or Ron Paul supporter DerekLarsson when you are gone. This is a Democratic blog and arguments about Democratic candidates should be a part of it, but I have little interest in the opinions of people who won't support the Democratic nominee. As for you, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Hillary supporters have had to take attacks from diarists and front pagers for the entire campaign, yet they are still here defending their candidate.

Re: Says the hillary hater? (none / 0)

Attacks on electabilty are not attacks on worthiness.

Some of us have concerns about the electbility of one candidate or another.  I think it is okay to state them - though I think the daily drumbeat campaigns on the point are a bit too far and deserve our scorn.

At the end of the day it comes down to respect.  Respect for each other and respect for our candidates.  Critique their positions if you must.  Argue their electability if that concerns you.  But treat each candidateas you would a loved one who perhaps let you don in one area or another.

They are ALL our candidates.  Anyone who acts otherwise is doing damage.

Re: Says the hillary hater? (none / 0)

Exactly right, souvarine.  This diary is concocting some strong tobak.  He/she is one of the worst offenders of what he laments here.  That in itself makes this a joke diary.   I had words with the diarist for one of the trashiest tag Hillary-hate tag lines I have ever seen.  Then he followed it up with yet another bad anti-Hillary tagline.   If the diarist wants to take his ball and go home, I am all for that.  Discourse on this board will incrementally improve with that action, which is a good thing.

Re: Is this a Republican blog?/GBCW (none / 0)

You'll see "hit pieces" on all the Dem candidates until the nominee is decided in January.  After that, we will all focus on the Republican nominee, Mitt Romney.  That will be fun.

Remember This (none / 0)

Remember THIS???

I gave people a chance to vote FOR alternative candidates. Only four great folks responded. All four gave one vote (it is a approval vote two-runoff poll) for Kucinich. All the other single votes were for all-different candidates. Is it that people would rather complain about candidates than vote?

I have done a few very critical pieces about Democratic contenders, but I never conceived of them as "hit" pieces, since they were designed to "hit" various political positions of the candidates, never the candidates themselves. There is a difference.

Re: Is this a Republican blog?/GBCW (none / 0)

I totally agree with you. Although I am an Obama supporter, I think that Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Bill Richardson would also make fantastic presidents.

It really breaks my heart to see the attacks being posted against Democratic candidates on this site - and I don't mean to single out any particular group of supporters, Obama supporters are just as guilty as supporters of any of the other candidates.

I'm all for debating the issues - but more and more, what I'm seeing are personal attacks. Have the freepers hijacked this web site?
